New opportunities for education in radiology
ESOR offers a wide range of activities for residents and young radiologists
The European School of Radiology, an initiative of the ESR, was established to offer high quality education for residents and young radiologists through a wide range of programmes: visiting schools, visiting seminars, scholarships, exchange programmes for fellowships, and tutorials.
All ESOR activities are exclusive to ESR members.
Visiting Scholarship Programme – Application deadline: April 1, 2009
This programme is aimed at residents in their 3rd, 4th or 5th year of training in radiology and offers the opportunity to experience another training environment and to develop an interest in subspecialisation in radiology. 25 grants will be offered on various topics in Europe and one scholarship in oncologic imaging in the USA. The training (3 months) is offered for free.

Exchange Programmes for Fellowships – Application deadline: April 15, 2009
The exchange programme (3 months) has been established with various European subspecialty societies for those who desire to become subspecialist radiologists in abdominal, cardiac, head and neck or paediatric imaging. It is aimed at residents in their last year of training in radiology and qualified radiologists within the first two years after certification. 16 grants are available to cover travel, accommodation and subsistence costs. The training is offered for free.

GALEN Foundation Courses
These courses have been running successfully for a few years and deal with subjects of practical importance for residents in the geographic area of central, south and eastern Europe. Five courses will be held throughout the year on the following topics: abdominal/urogenital radiology, chest/cardiovascular radiology, neuro/musculoskeletal radiology, oncologic imaging and paediatric radiology.

GALEN Advanced Courses
This course series focuses on recent advances in cross-sectional imaging, with four courses taking place in autumn. Topics include abdominal, musculoskeletal, women’s and cardiac imaging.

ASKLEPIOS Courses
This is one of the newly established ESOR activities offering advanced multi-thematic and multimodality courses for general radiologists and private practitioners. Two courses will be held this year: October 16-17 in Budapest and November 1-2 in Sochi (exclusively for participants from Russia and CIS countries).

ESMRMB School of MRI
The well-established course programme for radiologists, physicians and technicians comprises 14 courses held throughout Europe and beyond.


ESNR European Course of Neuroradiology
The ECNR has become part of ESOR. The 10th cycle will be continued with two courses in 2009, dedicated to tumours and vascular diseases.


AIMS Advanced Imaging Multimodality Seminars
This programme for Chinese radiologists has been set up to strengthen educational exchange and ties between the Chinese Society of Radiology and the ESR. The lectures are delivered by Chinese and European speakers in six different cities in China.

Graz Tutorials
These tutorials, aimed at participants from Russia and CIS countries, are held three times a year in Graz, Austria and last for 14 days each.
